And it was impossible to stop anymore. Sound followed us everywhere - in building -, sports-, grocery shops, on the street, in the metro. We wanted to bring objects to life, to make them sing, dance and move with us. And the mood was always set by the colour yellow. And we adopted it.
And we decided to make the drums ourselves. So we started communicating with builders, who were very lucky for us to change water pipes all over Moscow. And as a result of long trials and experiments we came up with a construction of 25 drums, built of HDPE water pipes.
Our first performances took place on the streets of the city, which sounded with us. The first audiences were random passers-by. Despite the impressive weight of the instruments, we walked around with full bins all over Moscow looking for a suitable place to perform. And then they started waiting for us there.
The support of the public made it clear that we are moving in the right direction. And we want to continue to develop this style and to expand our ranks with like-minded people and friends.
The history of Drum Teatr began in 2015, when Denis gathered an experimental drum group for teenagers at school. Since there were no instruments, they learnt to play on chairs and other improvised objects. Probably that's why our first musical instruments were rubbish bins, which due to their texture and functionality seemed much more interesting to us than ordinary drums.
We experimented in search of an unusual sound, spent a lot of time moving and fitting in with our new partners. The results were quite strange, but we were inspired.
